We offer a range of different moulded case circuit breakers. In a nutshell, they are a specific type of electrical protection device. They’re used to protect the electrical circuit from excessive current that may cause an overload or a short circuit. They contain all the necessary components within an insulated moulded case. A moulded case circuit breaker can be used in just about any environment, including residential applications to commercial and industrial systems.
The moulded case circuit breaker provides both overcurrent and short circuit protection for circuits that range from 63H Amps right up to 3000H Amps.
What are they made from?
Generally, they are manufactured using 2 pieces of heavy-duty electrically insulated plastic. These 2 pieces are riveted together to form a case. There are a series of thermal elements and a spring-loaded trigger inside this case. When the thermal element gets too warm such as from an overcurrent situation, the spring will trip. This then will shut of the electrical circuit.
